new school year
We started our next year today. My daughter will be doing math online streaming class from A Beka Academy. I hoping she will do better in math having a class room look and a teacher teaching it better. I dont know how this year will be since i still have to have my thyroid cancer checkup soon and be hypo thyroid again, which means my brain will be like mud during that time. And a possibly another treatment which she will have to stay at my moms this time for 7 days since my mom has internet where she can do her math. I just hope i dont need another even tho the docs words haunt me. Endo doc said dont think you're gonna be cancer free in 6 months, well i kinda like to hope that i will be. Im sure she has to think the worse case sernio. But i dont like how she put it. I just hope I can homeschool Ash better this yr than last yr when i was so sick. Ash is in 8th grade but doing 7th grade math only cuz she needs it and that i dont want her in algebra yet and ABB is very advance so if she gets through this yr and knows her math she will be up to 8th grade level in a public school. And if i pass her to 9th grade i want her to do basic algebra which would be 8th grade in ABB if i can do that when i order her school stuff next yr hopefully i can do the whole grade online instead if me doing most of it and math online. But if i cant do 8th algebra i may still do rest of school myself and math online like we are doing this yr. This is the first yr i tried the "streaming" program where she can go back and watch the video again if she needs to and takes alot off me to try to teach her math, in high school i wasnt so good in math. So far i like the program even tho it was the first day of it but Ash better understood things and she can rewind it if she needs to see it again which she did. and she can watch it anytime she needs too like they gave her homework to do and i told her if there was something u didnt understand or forgot (since she forgets about math all the time cuz she hates it) she can rewatch again during her homework time, and i like it she can do it on her own laptop and will show up that she did on my laptop. Which she says oh man cuz if she had to go to my moms she cant get away with not doing math now lol cuz itll tell me if she did it or not :)

EVALUATION
After all my health issues finally got this year of school done. Ashleys evaluation is May 24th at 7. this will be our last year using this evaluator shes retiring and she said she cant do high school. and she isnt doing anyone else but ashley she said she didnt have the heart to tell us to find someone else this year cuz of all ive been through with thyroid cancer. cant believe ash is going into the 8th grade for the next school year. for 8th grade im going to have her do her math online with A Beka Academy since she isnt doing so welll with math. so i signed her up for independant study for math and maybe for 9th have her do math and english online i dont know have to see how everything comes out.
seems the higher she gets the tougher school gets even for me. this year was hard on me to even concentrate with thyroid cancer and having to be hypothyroid, it was even harder to think of what letters are for me. my sister in law had to homeschool her some this past yr, i hope i can do everyday the following year but will have to be check in september to see if i need another treatment, for cancer, but this time she will have to go to my moms for homeschool cuz aunt kathy dont have the internet in her house and my mom does. ashley will have to be somewhere where there is internet to do her math.
i have her evaluation then i go to the notary to get her affidavit notarized for the next yr and then take everything up to the school district before june 30th her portfolio is due on jun 30 th but other stuff isnt til aug 1st but like to do it all in one day.
next year evaluator will probably her piano teacher i asked her if shed do it and she said "if im alive a kicking" LOL she use to be my hubbys and his sisters english teacher at the christian school they went to and she does high schooler evaluation which is perfect i try to find someone ashley will be comfortable with.

last day of school was yesterday but....
Yesterday was the last day of homeschooling for ashley but i ended up in the ER for the second time was there thurs too but this time my fam dr called 911 on me cuz i was hypotensive i guess i was dehydrated from all this thyroid cancer. ive been drinking alots of water like i cant get enough.
ashley still has to do fire safety on wed that is the offical last day and give me another report on PA history im so glad this yr is done seems like i had. seems like i had to put homeschooling on the back burner to my thyroid cancer cuz of all my appts and surgeries and treatment now i can just sit back and not have to worry about homeschooling when i dont feel like it and too tired to. now its to put her portfolio together and get her evaluated then hand in all the stuff in the school and prepare for next yr but i will have to find her something more for math like something online or DVD wise i cant seem to teach her math too well its alot harder than when i was in school. so gotta find something that will help her cuz math is what she is having trouble everything else shes very good at.
i hope i can homeschool her til she graduates but i want her to have a "real" diploma not just a GED and my sister in law my hubbys sister is in this program through PA that her sons will get a real diploma so maybe when she gets into 9th i will look into it

ash 7th grade
Ashley is in the 7th grade now doing ok expect math as usual. but this yr hasnt been the greatest in homeschooling. i have been to many docs since oct when my fam dr found a lump in my neck and on jan 3rd was diagnosed with thyroid papillary stageII cancer.. to say the least ashley has been homeschooled alot by her aunt kathy my hubbys sister who homeschools her boys. in a few weeks ashley can not be home with me for a week or so i have to get radioactive iodione therapy aka... RAI or I_131 drs all call it differently some call it ablation than treatment which i dont know the difference in that but its all greek to me when they talk about it... when i get the I-131 its a one pill dose and get a scan before it and after it, and ashley cant be around me neither can hubby or anyone, i could hurt them and they dont admit people anymore to an isolated room cost to much money they say they dont care about ppl they care about money. i dont want to hurt my family with this but i have no choice to stay in my home alone without them for about a week and do some good cleaning up after it wears off of me.
So ashley willl be at Kathys to be schooled i mainly have her do math and grammar there and whatever else Kathy wants to do with her. i think she said something about a report too. she will be taking her to her piano lessons as well luckily we have the same teacher and will teach all 3 kids the same day.
this cancer will mess up schooling for awhile after my first dose in march (i have to do a low iodine diet before it) its in march cuz i had 2 surgeries on my thyroid 6 weeks apart from each other last being feb2 so im healing before i see the endo dr again then get treatment after diet then in 6 months have to be checked to see if i need another treatment. they told me likely i will cuz they dont think ill be cancer free in 6 months, i wish i would tho.
we have done alot of home EC this yr shes been helping me do laundry and such since i cant lift a laundry basket for 3 weeks since surgery and she been helping and learning to clean and cook and gro shop this yr and will continue next yr as well. cant believe she will be 13 in may and that our evaluation will be in a few months time seems to fly feels like yesterday we started KGN, and now shes a 7th grader.
